Going Beyond Beam Vacuums

Friday, August 19th, 2011

If you’ve decided on a centralized system for your home cleaning needs, you should know that Beam vacuums aren’t the only game in town. While the company has a good reputation and a high visibility in online search results, there are just as many lesser-known providers that are as professional and pragmatic as Beam may be in making sure your home is fitted with the best centralized vacuum system possible. Older houses can be particularly difficult to retrofit a system into, so you need to be sure you are working with professionals that are capable of tackling the project within a reasonable range of the initial estimate. An average house-wide vacuum, with installation costs, can average as little as $1000. However, the larger the house, the more parts will be required. Around 95% of houses in the U.S. can be made to have a centralized system, but the major variable within that percentage is price. A 19th century Victorian mansion is obviously going to run a higher invoice than a decade-old townhouse.

The vacuum-powered tubing is what will compromise the majority of the system. It will run from the power unit making everything work back to wall inlets where you can connect hoses attached to wands. Those wands can remotely turn on the power unit so you won’t have to travel to the basement or garage every time. The system’s receptacle will also be located with the power source, and will require changing about every 3 months or so depending on the frequency of your cleaning.
